The more you think about the idea of ranking the top sportspeople, across all disciplines and all time, the more bonkers it becomes. But it did make a lot of people very agitated, both in the office and outside, as people defended their pet sports. I did the compiling and most of the writing, with the help of Alpha senior writer Anthony Sharwood. See if you can spot who wrote what.

Another game is to accept that, yes, it was compiled with an Australian bias, but see how many Aussies you can honestly take out:

Welcome to Denham Golf Club. Welcome to Denham Golf Club in Buckinghamshire, a traditional private member’s club, where the values of the game are respected; friendliness and hospitality are guaranteed.

It was a joy to come back to our farmstead and relax in the garden and enjoy the peace. We played board games in the evening and slept well in our beds. The quality of The Old Barn shines through its bespokje oak windows anf floded us with memories that will never be forgotten, thank you. Aug 20th Stephen W August Farmtastic – comfortable, beautiful – the perfect place to stay. Rob and Haley are excellent hosts and can take you and the little ones to feed the animals – this as an amazing experience.

For this year’s summer vacation we rented the Old Barn at Little Quebb Cottages in Herefordshire and have just returned after two wonderful, relaxing weeks. Even though we thought about keeping to ourselves just how amazing a place for holidays it is, we can only recommend going to the the Little Quebb Cottages in Herefordshire! The cottage was perfect, it is clean, warm and cosy. The welcome basket on arrival is a lovely touch. Lovely peaceful location would definitely stay again.

Thank you Mymodena June Absolutely idyllic The cottage was beautiful, very cosy and tastefully decorated with great power shower, comfy beds and fab log fire. Really nice big kitchen too for cooking and entertaining.

Triple bogey three strokes over par In a typical professional tournament or among “scratch” amateur players, “birdie-bogey” play is common; a player will “lose” a stroke by bogeying a hole, then “gain” one by scoring a birdie. Eagles are uncommon but not rare; however, only 18 players have scored an albatross in a men’s major championship.

Basic forms of golf There are two basic forms of golf play, match play and stroke play. Stroke play is more popular.

Donald Trump ‘s UK visit itinerary includes plenty of work affairs, but the US president has also left room on the schedule for plenty of downtime.. In fact Donald and Melania will be heading to.

Dogs are not permitted on this beach from April to September, but the adjacent, wide beach of Daymer Bay 5 miles has excellent, fine sand and is available to families and pets. In the season you can book fishing or scenic trips from Port Isaac harbour. There are good opportunities for cycling along the Camel Trail – Padstow – Wadebridge – Bodmin – and cycles can be hired. The nearest golf course is at St. Kew, and there is an 18 hole course at Bowood near Camelford.

There are also two well known golf courses – the classic St Enodoc 5 miles and Trevose 15 miles. Two steam railways in the area are the Bodmin Steam Railway – standard gauge – 15 miles and the Launceston Steam Railway – narrow gauge – 20 miles. It is advisable to park in the main car park on the right hand side as you approach the village. Then follow the Trewetha Lane into the village, either taking the shortcut directly into the village via Rose Hill, or walking along New Road to the T-junction where you can join Fore Street for the more traditional walk along the edge of the harbour down into the village enjoying the stunning harbour views.

As an alternative, limited parking is also available adjacent to the coastal path on the outskirts of Port Isaac. Simply follow New Road towards Port Gaverne, passing the popular Nathan Outlaw Rrestaurant on the left – as you start to leave the village you will find the North Cornwall St Endellion pay-and-display carpark on the left hand side of the main road. The carpark has stunning coastal and see views and leads directly onto the coastal path – you can follow the coastal path round the head land directly onto Fore Street and then down to the harbour – enjoying the stunning sea views.

The whole area is very hilly with deep valleys where little streams run down to the sea. Port Isaac and Port Gaverne are in two of these valleys – two separate communities.

Pliny ‘s date, BC, is probably that of one of his most noted works. The subjects chosen by Praxiteles were either human beings or the dignified and less elderly deities such as Apollo , Hermes and Aphrodite rather than Zeus , Poseidon or Themis. Praxiteles and his school worked almost entirely in marble.

Port Eynon is located on the Southernmost point of the Gower peninsula and named after an 11th century Welsh Prince named Eynon. The village has a long history of oyster fishing, crabbing, lobstering and limestone quarrying, as well as the less honest trade of smuggling.

Modern wedges bear a puzzling similarity to those dating all the way back to the s, the ones Ben Hogan said should not be hit over 40 yards. Hogan knew was that the heavy bottom and thin upper face caused very inconsistent distances with full swings. That insight inspired us to completely re-engineer the design of wedges to make them much better at full shots than any other wedge you can play.

And we built in even more innovations to make sure they were more versatile around the greens than the wedges currently in your bag. You know that high-face impact that always comes up short? The fact is that trajectory and distance control are the two biggest scoring range challenges for golfers of all skill levels — from you to tour players. Our extensive testing on swing robots and with golfers of all skill levels prove those problems are caused by your wedge design itself.

In the TK wedges, our engineers re-distributed the mass more evenly across the back of the clubhead to fix these faults. So they deliver more penetrating trajectories on full swings, and the distance control on all shots that is so important to scoring range performance. Turf conditions are never consistent.

Over a decade working as a golf correspondent, I attended the men’s U. For example, almost all the thrice-married Nick Faldo’s relationships have overlapped, and Greg Norman had a very brazen affair. When asked if she thought Norman had been faithful during their year marriage, she simply said:

In fact Donald and Melania will be heading to Scotland for a private visit, and while it’s not been confirmed where they will stay, it’s expected to be at one of the two golf courses which he owns there. There’s the Trump International Golf Links Scotland in Aberdeen, but as Donald is flying into Glasgow Prestwick airport it’s more likely that he’d head to his luxury resort Trump Turnberry , which sits less than an hour’s drive away. The hotel, which he bought in , makes for a seriously luxurious getaway – we’re talking huge opulent suites, fine dining, and golf courses that have been used for Open Championships.

We take a sneak peek inside the impressive resort owned by the business tycoon – and why it’s an ideal playground for a millionaire. We wonder if Trump will squeeze a round of golf into his UK visit Image:

The combination of sustained trading losses, the current economic climate and a nationwide decline in the demand for golf has meant that the operation of Laleham is no longer commercially viable. Laleham Golf Course, which was rescued from bankruptcy in following its purchase from the members at that time, has previously received significant investment in both the course and its facilities in an effort to enhance the experience at the course, attract new players and bring financial stability and success to the club.

Unfortunately, despite the initial and subsequent investment and the introduction of several different structures, the club has continued to make significant trading losses. This is set against the backdrop of a national decrease in the number of people playing golf which has seen a decline in memberships at many clubs and closures of other local courses, the recent recession and the increasingly popularity of fitness-based sports such as cycling.

There are no immediate plans for the Laleham site, which will be returned to the landlord. Laleham golf course is an hole parkland-style pay and play course with a touch of inland links, dating back to , and nestled between the banks of the River Thames and the Abbey River. This challenging course was designed by the Open Champion Jack White and offers a unique golfing experience, with its tree-lined fairways, well protected approaches and smooth putting surfaces, mixed in with strategic water hazards.

Laleham is a test for all levels of golfer, from beginners to established players, and will provide an enjoyable golfing experience each time you play. The old Clubhouse houses Ladies and Mens locker rooms with shower facilities. Just before the car park there is a range where you can practice and warm up using your own balls.
